Norman McLaren

Norman McLaren (1914 - 1987) was a Scottish man who experimented with film and animation, he perceived animators as artists and believed that people within these two professions should control and conduct every part of the animation or film that had been produce; he set trends for animators and those around him, creating a motivating environment for others to develop their own skills and experiment with different techniques. One of his most memorable animations was Begone Dull Care, which was a visually animated film that contained music; this animation was produced by painting and scratching on the film’s stock, which created a visually beautiful music display, Norman McLaren created a complex composition, which emphasised the synchronisation between the sound and visuals, in generating this combination he created a energetic movement towards this animated composition.
